Thanks for investing the time to share your thoughts. I wish you all and your daughter the best Diabetes (D) D-Adventure that you can muster. As difficult as it can be, there are rewards to the D-Adventure in its own right.

I know where you are coming from with regard to wishing a cure is around the corner. Even in the absence of a cure, an Artificial Pancreas may be the next best thing!?. Fortunately, work on such systems is in the works. You can search for artificial pancreas on google if you like. The JDRF Artificial Pancreas Project has a lot of info (if you aren’t already aware of it).

In the meantime, the Diabetes Online Community (DOC) helps me (us) to remember that the impossible is always possible :)

My wife and I were watching this (47 yrs old) and our daughter 13 was diagnosed two years ago and she “can do it” with the help of all of you.

My wife and I were quite moved by your tribute to “you can do it”. Diabetes is not a disease…it is just something we live with. We hope you are doing well. We are all in this together. We all have some things to carry…some heavier and more cumbersome than others.

Know that we wish a cure is around the corner…but to seee the strength in you eyes and hear your words of encouragement are things that make our daughter and us feel so connected to this community.

I agree too! May the combined, living proof of all of us in the DOC stand as a testament to its power! Though it does seem like the medical community is showing interest, I figure that no matter how long it takes… It’s gonna take the strength of each of us in order for such acceptance to truly take hold!
